💪🏼 China Boosts Gold Reserves

China has continued to boost its gold reserves for the 5th consecutive month, following the trend of other central banks looking to bolster their holdings of the precious metal. 

The country's central bank, the People's (of course) Bank of China, raised its holdings by approximately 18 tons in March, bringing total stockpiles to around 2,068 tons. 

The increase follows four consecutive months of growth, which saw holdings rise by about 102 tons in the lead up to March. 

The prudent thing to do in a highly inflationary environment, with a few banking crisis and wars to go with it.

🏞️ There's Gas In Them Hills

A coalition of environmental organizations has taken legal action to block a new law in Ohio that would allow government agencies to lease state parks and other public state lands to the oil and gas industry. 

The law, set to take effect on April 7, permits the fracking of Ohio’s 75 state parks and classifies methane gas, as “green energy”. 

The lawsuit, filed by Buckeye Environmental Network, Ohio Valley Allies, the Sierra Club, and the Ohio Environmental Council, asserts that the law is unconstitutional as it violates the state constitution’s one-subject and three-consideration rules. 

The legislation was originally an agricultural bill but was later expanded to include provisions benefiting agriculture corporate giants, fossil fuel, and petrochemical industries.

  💎 De Beers Finds Diamond Inside Diamond

De Beers, the world’s biggest diamond producer by value, has revealed the discovery of a unique rough diamond named the “Beating Heart”. 

The 0.33-carat rough specimen consists of a diamond within another diamond, with an internal cavity that encloses a smaller loose diamond. 

The unusual D-colour, type IaAB diamond was discovered at one of De Beers’ mines in either Africa or Canada, and arrived at the De Beers Institute of Diamonds facility in Maidenhead, England, in November 2022. 

It will not be cut and polished, but instead will be kept for research and educational purposes, registered on De Beers’ Tracr blockchain platform.
