💪 Gold Rips Higher

Gold prices surged nearly 3% on Friday and were on track for their best week in seven months due to the Middle East conflict increasing safe-haven demand and speculation that U.S. interest rates may have peaked.

Spot was up 2.8% at $1,921.39 per ounce by 1134 a.m. ET (1534 GMT). U.S. gold futures added 2.7% to $1,934.60. Prices were up 4.8% for the week.

It’s finally happening, folks.

👀 A Special Mining Lease to new Porgera

Governor General Sir Bob Dabae grants a special mining lease to New Porgera Limited (NPL), allowing Barrick Gold Corporation (NYSE:GOLD) (TSX:ABX) to restart production at the gold mine after three years of care and maintenance. The lease follows the signing of a mining development contract and a fiscal stability agreement between the government and NPL.

NPL will engage with the mine property’s landowners in the upcoming week to settle compensation agreements.

Keep your eyes open for PNG.
