πŸ™„ Massive Copper Producer At Risk

PT Freeport Indonesia, a subsidiary of Freeport-McMoran (NYSE: FCX), has not yet received a government permit to continue exporting its materials, which poses a risk of overcapacity at its storage facilities. Indonesia banned the export of raw minerals in June to boost its metals processing industry, but exempted certain companies, including Freeport.

However, the company's export permit expired on June 10, and it has not made any shipments since. Without the permit, Freeport's operational activities would be suspended, impacting overall operations and sales.

Freeport Indonesia produced a record 3 million tonnes of copper concentrate in 2022 and has transitioned to underground mining at its Grasberg mine, the world's second-largest copper operation.
