🤩 Gold Glow
Gold prices rose 0.2% this week, despite easing 0.3% today to $2,625.78 per ounce, with U.S. gold futures dropping 0.5% to $2,641.30.
Safe-haven demand surged amid geopolitical tensions, including the Middle East conflict and the Russia-Ukraine war, though a stronger dollar, marking its fourth consecutive weekly gain, capped further gains.
Gold has climbed 27% in 2024, reaching a record high of $2,790.15 on October 31, driven by Federal Reserve rate cuts and global uncertainty. Meanwhile, silver fell 0.7% on Friday but remained up for the week, platinum held steady, and palladium dropped 0.5%.
In regional markets, gold discounts in India widened as high prices dampened demand, while China shifted to a premium.
Gold thrives during economic and geopolitical uncertainty, particularly in a low-interest-rate environment.
😉 Lithium Revival?
The lithium market is expected to see a modest recovery in 2025 after a challenging 2024 marked by sluggish EV sales in the Americas and Europe, an oversupply, and a steep price decline.
Demand is projected to grow by 26% to 1.46 million tonnes LCE, driven by Asia-Pacific's booming EV market, stricter CO2 targets in Europe, and energy storage systems.
Supply is forecasted to rise 16% to 1.58 million tonnes LCE, with key contributions from Australian and South American projects and direct lithium extraction (DLE) technology advancements.
Despite surplus inventories and subdued prices, supply cuts, project delays, and stockpiling are expected to balance the market, offering modest price relief.
🐦 Historic Nuclear Deal
This won't change anything right away, but we keep seeing more nuclear energy deals...
