Niger Mine Extended For A Decade
Orano has pledged to invest $44 million in education and other priority sectors in Niger as part of the deal.
The partners have also agreed to postpone the start of mining at Imouraren, a site with one of the world's largest uranium deposits. The feasibility of starting mining at Imouraren will be determined within the next 10 years.
Westinghouse New SMR
According to them, The AP300 is a Small Modular Reactor (SMR) developed by Westinghouse, based on proven and reliable AP1000 pressurized light water technology. It has advanced passive safety systems, is readily deployable, and has a simplified, modular, ultra-compact nuclear island construction, reducing construction costs and schedule. The AP300 SMR has the capability to stabilize modern renewable heavy electric grids and support variations in demand, including supporting district heating, desalination, and hydrogen production.
Just a public service reminder: we have not yet seen any supply demand models for uranium which include the utilization of small modulr reactors. (Tears of joy)
