😉 Rio Goes Into Rwanda

Rio Tinto is entering the Rwandan mining sector by signing a joint-venture agreement with Aterian to develop lithium at the HCK license site. Rio Tinto can invest up to $7.5m in two stages to secure a 75% interest in the license. Initial payments total $300,000 for Aterian's operational costs.

This is a pivotal move for Aterian, showcasing its knack for discovering promising mineral deposits. The agreement provides Rio Tinto with a 2% net smelter return and the option to invest in Aterian's other Rwandan projects.

This partnership underscores Rio's increased interest in battery metals following the revocation of its Serbian lithium project license.

There is no place producers won’t go to for lithium. What does that tell you?

🤩 PMET Gets Big Cheque

Patriot Battery Metals Inc. (TSX.V: PMET | ASX: PMT | OTCQX: PMETF | FSE: R9GA) has entered into a subscription agreement with Albemarle Corporation for a private placement of around C$109 million. Albemarle will acquire over seven million common shares of Patriot at a 7% premium to the closing price on TSX Venture Exchange.

This purchase will make Albemarle a 4.9% owner of Patriot on a fully diluted basis. Proceeds from this strategic investment will boost development activities at the Corvette Lithium Project and support corporate purposes. The deal will also result in an investor rights agreement and a memorandum of understanding to assess potential collaboration opportunities.

The investment is set to close by August 4, 2023, pending approval.

Sweeeeet.
