🥳 Rio Goes Into Graphite

Mining corporation Rio Tinto will acquire a 15% stake in Australian critical minerals developer Sovereign Metals for $27.6 million, marking its first venture into the graphite sector.

The deal comprises Rio Tinto purchasing 83.09 million shares in Sovereign at a 10% premium, along with an option for a further 34.54 million shares, potentially increasing its stake to 19.99%.

The investment will fund a feasibility study for Sovereign’s Kasiya project in Malawi, aimed at producing graphite for lithium-ion batteries and rutile for the pigment and titanium metal industries.

The companies will also partner on technical and marketing aspects of a graphite product for lithium-ion battery anodes.

Panoro Minerals Ltd. (TSXV: PML) (Lima: PML) (Frankfurt: PZM) (OTCQB: POROF) has just announced results of nine additional drillholes that will provide additional information for the new mineral resource estimation at the Cotabambas Cu/Au/Ag Project in southern Peru.

Highlights:

  • 316.9m of 1.16% CuEq (0.72% Cu, 0.50g/t Au and 4.01g/t Ag)

  • 198.6m 1.46% CuEq (0.83% Cu, 0.74g/t Au, 3.80g/t Ag)

The Company's objective is to complete a Pre Feasibility study in 2023.
