🏧 US Military Bankrolls Canadian Mining
The aim is to develop a critical minerals industry on this continent and reduce the U.S.'s reliance on China for materials needed to power EVs, electronics, and other products.
Canadian companies have been informed that they are eligible to apply for grants from the Defence Production Act program, with a $250 million US fund available for companies from both countries.
Biden also stated that Canadian semiconductor projects would be eligible for access to another Defence Production Act program. Canada has promised billions of dollars to the sector as well.
The mining sector wants more, rightly so - and has called for the Canadian government not for funds but rather to speed up permitting to ensure that Canada can become a major player in providing raw materials for growing fleets of EVs.
When was the last time we saw a country pay to stimulate another’s mining industry?
There’s something to this.

💐 RIP Tookie Angus
Stuart "Tookie" Angus has passed away.
As the mining term goes, the man was very prolific and every time his name came up as being on the board of a particular company, it would immediately attract a nod of respect.
That's no small feat after persisting for 40 years, through ups and downs.
As a renowned personality in the industry, he was involved with many successful projects such as K92, Nevsun, and First Quantum Minerals.
He continued to be active on boards of juniors until his very last breath.
Rest In Peace, Tookie.
And may we all have that drive to push forward until the very end.
