⛏ Is The West Losing The Nuclear Race?

Greetings Contrarian,

This is another Sunday edition, with your most pressing question. Here we go:

Dear Nuclear-Head-Scratcher,

Great question!

I’ve been wondering the same because it seems like the east is leading this race, even though the West is now coming out and trying to overtake the east by going for size instead of speed.

This week for example, I was shocked to see that Ontario is going very heavily into new or extended nuclear power plants.

In fact, Bruce Power is planning the expansion of a nuclear plant in Ontario, potentially making it the world's largest, in response to growing demand for clean energy in Canada.

The project aims to add 4.8 gigawatts to the plant's existing 6.2 gigawatts, surpassing Japan's Kashiwazaki-Kariwa.

The move aligns with Canada's objective to achieve a net-zero power grid by 2035, which we don’t really buy, but welcome nonetheless.

The Bruce project represents the first conventional nuclear plant expansion in the province in 30 years.

This is just the beginning, our leaders were sleep at the wheel and now they will throw untold amounts towards energy of every type, including nuclear.

And we’ll be here to ride the whole wave.

Happy speculating (responsibly),

The Editor
