🦺 Zinc Producer Shuts Down – Price Jumps

Zinc prices have risen 3% following the decision by Swedish mining company Boliden to halt production at Europe's largest zinc mine in Ireland due to "unsustainable financial losses." 

This suspension, alongside operational issues and a fire at Boliden's major smelter in Sweden, is expected to have a $65 million negative impact on Q2 earnings.

The halted production at the Tara mine, which provided 40% of Boliden's zinc concentrate output, could further tighten zinc supply amidst already depleted inventories in Europe.
