🔥 Zinc’s On Fire
The Ozerny mine fire in Russia, a significant zinc source, was put out but impacted the zinc market. Zinc prices on the London Metal Exchange spiked after the fire but have since stabilized.
The mine's operational status remains uncertain, affecting global zinc supply. Low zinc prices have caused numerous mine closures, reducing zinc availability and driving up prices. The Ozerny mine, expected to significantly boost zinc supply, has just started production, but the fire might delay its full operation.
This has led to tighter supply chains and falling smelter treatment charges. The recent mine closures have supported a recovery in zinc prices, which have risen over 17% from their May low.
Wouldn’t you just LOVE to see zinc be sexy again? No? Just us?
